ABC Challenge-W & X

I cannot say that these are my most creative or unique manicures, but I do like the colors on both.  I was both in a hurry to get two done in one sitting as well as I am so ready for the next challenge that my imaginative juices were not really flowing for these.

So W is for White Dots. Like I said, nothing too creative.  I do love this color though. Sinful Colors Have a Latte.  It kind of reminds me of bowling pins :-)

X is for well.....X.  I used one of my favorite colors Mossy Britches by Ultra Pro.  I then striped on black X's and added a rhinestone to the middle of each.

Hope you enjoyed these two posts.  Y will be up tomorrow......unfortunately my nails broke and are down to tiny little stumps.  They are cute and tiny and each time I look at them I tell them to grow faster!

Have a wonderful Tuesday all!

Everyone loves a Dotticure

Let me begin with another congrats to my giveaway winner Angie at Our Painted World.  She is super talented and I was excited to see that she had won! She chose two awesome Llama Lacquers,  Redrum from the Halloween Collection and Strawberry Susie from The Girls Collection.  I can't wait to send it all out.  Another hearty thank you to all that entered!  I truly appreciate all your support and the wonderful comments you left me.  I hope you stick around while I continue my crazy nail journey.  I'm sure I will have another giveaway in the future :-)

Ok, so on to my ABC challenge post.  This week was the letter D, and once again I knew what I wanted to do from the beginning.  I love a dotticure and there are so many different styles of it that I want to try.  I know it is nothing original, but having polka dots dancing on my fingers puts me in a good mood.  I decided to use some dark colors for this and they didn't show up as well as I would have liked them too, but I like it nonetheless. I am finding that because it is fall I have to use dark fall colors.  No more pastels for a while.

Base-Finger Paints Bauhaus Burgundy
Dots-Orly Space Cadet and Black

See, nothing too fancy.  Space Cadet is actually a holographic polish that came in a french manicure kit and looks really cool in person. I couldn't get my lighting right and got a lot of glare.  These were the best two pictures I could get.

Thanks for stopping by.  Make sure you check out the other ladies.  A lot of dotticures today :-P

Hothouse Flowers

I haven't done a mani for the summer challenge in a while.  But as it is almost over, I thought I should do one!    Today's theme was hothouse flowers.  I assume hothouse is another word for greenhouse.  I know, stupid American :-P  When I saw this topic, I pictured brightly colored flowers.  So I chose some bright colors and free handed some petals.  These will most likely be the only flowers I can keep alive...well until I take them off.  But I like these so much, I may keep them on for more than a day or two!  I started with two colored bases.  Then on two of the coral nails I did a gradient with the purple.  I then free handed the yellow petals on each nail.  I added some dots for a contrasting and complete look.

Coral-Sinful Colors Hazard
Purple-Wet N Wild On a Trip
Flower-It's So Easy Yellow Striper

I really am quite proud of the work I did.  I only wish I could free hand with my left hand better.  Practice makes perfect!

Thanks for stopping by! What are your favorite flowers?

Day 29-A Mermaids Call

In many coastal towns, it is believed that fishermen long to catch the beautiful mermaids that live in the sea.  If they catch one, the mermaid must come to land and live with him as his wife, grant him wishes and he will be forever happy.  Alas, the mermaid will spend the rest of her life feeling the call of the ocean, longing to return to her home in the sea.  But bound by the mythical rules that govern her to stay with the fisherman she is unable to do anything about it.  The only way that she can return is if he loves her enough to set her free.  I find this tale both sad and intriguing.  It inspired me to do some mermaid nails for Day 29, inspired by the supernatural.  I have been wanting to do mermaid nails for a while but I don't have the stamp that I see so many others use to accomplish the mermaid scale look.  Instead I chose to use dots to create a fish tale like scale on my accent nail.  After completing it I started to think they looked a little like the Rainbow Fish :-P Oh well, a talking shimmering fish in the ocean is supernatural too, right?

Base-Sinful Colors Let me Go topped with China Glaze Prism
Accent Nail Dots- Wet n Wild Caribbean Frost, Sally Hansen Silver Sweep, WnW on a Trip, S.H Co-Bold Blue

What do you think of when you hear the word supernatural? My husband said ghosts. ooooooooooooooo

Thanks for coming by today! Only two more days left in the challenge! Then, I will have some news to report that I just can't wait to tell you about!!

In the meantime, check out some of the other supernaturally inspired nails :-)

Day 19-Space. The Final Frontier

Bum. BaBa Bum. BaBa Bum Bum. Anyone? Yes, it is star trek.  I know, nerd alert.  But if you have been with me long enough, you probably know that already :-P  Friday was my dad's birthday (which is the day I actually did these nails) and he is a big Star Trek fan. He watched all of the series of the show even.  I think he was even had a little crush on Captain Janeway. I think of my dad when I think of Star Trek.  I even have the Star Trek ringtone programmed into my phone for when he calls. My dad's a big nerd himself. We love all of those science fiction movies and books and it's super awesome that we can talk about that stuff together. He's a lot smarter than me though! He understands most of it....I can even remember him reading Stephen Hawking's books when I was little.
Anyway, today's challenge was Galaxy nails.  This is a challenge that I really do like.  I have done them once before and they turned out alright.  I decided to be inspired by looking at pictures of nebulas this time though instead of watching a tutorial.  They look pretty cool if you ask me!

I started with a black base and then sponged on white, teal, purple, and pink.  I then added a coat of sparkle and dotted in some more stars.  I used a small paint brush to paint the spiral nebula on the accent nail with white and teal.  (If you want more details let me know) So what do you think? Do they look spacey to you?

Day 14-Flowers

Let me start by saying that I am in love with these nails.  I am so glad that I did tomorrow's challenge nails first, so I can keep these on for two days :-P  I got my inspiration from a youtube video by LOVE4NAILS who does some amazing free hand nail art.  This video was actually of her painting her dominant hand....which i chose not to do this time around.  Anyway, I changed up a few things, but all in all it's pretty much the same manicure.  I used all striping paints, something I have never done before.  Let me know what you think!

Day 11-Dotty the Octopus

We now begin the part of this challenge that focuses on patterns.  It's going to get harder.  I'm very excited to live up to the challenge.  So, today's mani was Polka Dots.  I have great dotting tools and i was thrilled to do a mani with NO stamping. Don't get me wrong, I love stamping...I just wanted to do something different. I've had some success with my dotting tools in the past but I find that I am trigger shy and this ends up messing me up.  So, I went into this with confidence and a steady hand and all in all I like the way it turned out.  I named this Dotty the Octopus because the end result looks like the little suctions on an Octopus' tentacles. My neighbor totally agreed!

I started with a beautiful new base color called Spaced Out by Misa (a brand I had never heard of)  Then I used three dotting tools to create different dots.  At first, I put only one color of dots on each of the non-accent nails, but then decided to add another smaller dot inside each of those.  This is what made them to look like octopus tentacles :-P And the accent nail uses all of the colors.

Misa Spaced Out :-) I just loved this color! I almost didn't want to do anything to it.  You really can't see how pretty and shimmery gray it is in the pictures though

Pink-Color Club Hot Like lava
Teal-Wet N Wild Caribbean Frost
White-Sally Hansen Hard to Get

This was a lot of fun to do, even if it took a lot of time and patience.  Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by :-)

Hooo's your momma?

My mother has always loved owls.  I always remember this large wooden carved owl that would sit in the foyer of our home that greeted me when I would come home.  No, it didn't actually talk, but sometimes I felt like it might.  So when I did my first owl nails with the new bundle monster plates I knew my mom would love them.  The first thing she said was "I want those!"  When mom asks, I give.  I didn't do the exact same nails, but I did use the same stamp.  My favorite part of these nails is the little owl on the branch.  My mom had no idea what I was doing and kept looking at them.  Of course I wouldn't tell her until I was done and she squeeled with delight! This is why I love doing this.

Thanks for looking! Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest.  My camera was being stupid :-P

This Little Piggy

This will be a short post.  I like the pedicure, but I don't like putting my toes out there.  But the Summer Challenge decreed it so here they are.

Base is Sally Hansen No Hard Feelings
Stamp is Maybeline Color Show Bold Gold using m64
and dotted with Essie Mojito Madness

These look a lot prettier in person.  I just don't know how to photo my toes.
